AESTHETIC NOSE SURGERY (RHINOPLASTY)

Rhinoplasty allows you to alter the shape, size and general appearance of your nose. Getting rid of a bump, refining the base of the nose, shortening or lengthening it, altering the tip or even relieving nasal obstruction… The aim is to correct any lack of harmony between the nose and face and to improve aesthetic balance. If there are any functional internal problems (eg. deviation of the nasal septum) they will be corrected in the same surgery. The operation can be performed from the inside of the nostrils so that there is no visible scarring. The operation can only be performed once bone growth is completed, in other words from the age of sixteen onwards. Laboratory and clinical examinations are always necessary in order to detect any potential contra-indications. The operation takes about an hour and is usually done under local anaesthetic with the administration of a sedative, although sometimes a general anaesthetic is given on patient's request. The patient does not always require overnight admission to the clinic.

Recovering after the operation

A plaster cast must be worn for 7 to 8 days. There is generally not too much bruising or swelling around the eyes and it subsides within a week. After removal of the plaster cast, all traces of the operation are almost gone. This operation is not painful and you will be able to go back to your daily routines within two weeks of the surgery.

Results

You will need to wait for a few months before being able to appreciate the final result. The surgeon uses all of his or her skill to preserve the natural appearance of the nose and restore harmony to the face.
