Objectives of the phenol peel
The deep phenol peel chemically treats pronounced signs of facial photoageing, such as deep wrinkles caused by sun exposure and smoking, pigmentation spots and moderate skin laxity.
It is the only peeling technique that, by acting down to the deep dermis, alters the structure of the skin to rejuvenate it by 15 to 20 years.

In addition, dermo-epidermal healing will occur with a degree of skin retraction, producing a true skin “tightening” effect, which varies and may be more or less pronounced depending on the case.
Phenol peels are performed only on fair skin, in order to limit the risk of pigment rebound as well as colour differences between the treated areas and the rest of the skin.
The phenol peel gives exceptional results after just one session. However, the heaviness of its consequences reserves it for highly motivated patients.
Who is the phenol peel for?
Candidates for a phenol peel are generally women or men whose skin has undergone significant ageing over many years due to several factors such as prolonged exposure to the sun or UV lamps, smoking, stress, poor hydration, lack of sleep, or simply the effects of time.
Patients who also have deep acne scars are good candidates for this deep peeling. All areas of the face can be treated, including the contour of the mouth, the eyelids, the forehead and the entire face.

It is preferable to treat the entire face to obtain a harmonious result. But in the case of a treatment on isolated areas such as the eyelids or around the mouth, your surgeon will suggest that you treat the rest of the face with a more superficial peel.
The phenol peel is a surgical procedure that may involve risks and complications. A first consultation with your surgeon is essential to know if this intervention is adapted to your particular situation.
Before and after pictures
How the phenol peel is performed
The phenol peel will positively transform your skin and give you a face rejuvenated by at least 10 years. The results are definitive.
Follow your surgeon’s recommendations to optimize the healing process and the quality of the result.
Before the intervention
The first consultation is essential to understand your request and your motivations. It is also an opportunity for your surgeon to carefully analyse your skin to ensure that the procedure will enhance your face and provide genuine rejuvenation.
Then your surgeon will explain all the steps in detail of this protocol, before and after the peel, which must be followed rigorously to avoid complications and achieve the expected result.
The preoperative protocol consists of preparing the skin before the procedure by using specific creams (exfoliating and depigmenting cream) to be applied at home for one month before the peel.
This preparation phase helps limit the risks associated with recovery after a phenol peel, such as the appearance of spots after the procedure.
A preoperative check-up will be carried out in accordance with the prescriptions.
Anesthesia
The phenol peel is generally performed as an outpatient procedure under local anaesthesia with sedation to maximise your comfort.
A consultation with the anaesthetist will take place a few days before your procedure.
The day of the procedure
After makeup removal, cleansing and disinfection of the skin, and placement of sterile drapes, the product is applied area by area according to a personalised protocol tailored to your skin and its imperfections.
The choice of product concentration is determined very simply by the degree of deterioration of the dermis and epidermis.
The product is therefore applied slowly to the face, and the procedure lasts a total of 1 to 2 hours.
At the end of the procedure, an occlusive mask (transparent dressing type) is placed on your face and should be kept for 24 hours. During this time, your facial movements will be reduced.
After the procedure
A warm feeling will last about 2 hours and then fade . Immediately after the treatment, the dermis is exposed, resulting in redness, edema and oozing.
From the next day, your surgeon removes the occlusive mask and applies a regenerating powder, allowing your skin to restructure and deeply regenerate over the course of a week.
Indeed, following the phenol peeling, all the skin’s natural stimulation and repair mechanisms will be activated and all of the collagen and elastin fibers present at the base of the dermis will regenerate. A social eviction must be maintained for 8 to 10 days.
Following these 10 days, the skin is pink and this aspect fades in the following weeks. The results are already visible and are spectacular (rejuvenation of 10 to 15 years).
From the tenth day, care with emollient creams for sensitive skin, suitable makeup and sun protection are recommended to conceal the red or pink appearance of the treated skin for 2 to 6 months.
It is this restoration of the skin surface that will result in a smoother appearance, erasing all original imperfections.
Results
Final results are achieved between three and six months, but a clear improvement in the condition of the skin is visible as soon as the mask is removed, and redness can be concealed with appropriate makeup.
The new skin regains all the characteristics of youthful skin: elasticity, firmness, hydration, radiance, refined skin texture, and even pigmentation.
The main advantage of the phenol peel is that it delivers very natural-looking results, because it does not alter facial volumes or expressions.
The treatment will be long-lasting provided you protect your skin well from UV rays, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and sustain the results with other aesthetic medicine treatments (botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid injections, mesotherapy, medium-depth peels, etc.).
The goal of this surgery is to bring an improvement and not to achieve perfection. If your wishes are realistic, the result should give you great satisfaction.

Around the surgery
The first consultation
The first appointment is essential to identify your needs and expectations. Our specialists will take all the necessary time to understand your demand and offer you the best advice.
Anesthesia
Sensitive to the potentially traumatic dimension of any operation, Laclinic's doctors pay close attention to pain management to make the operation as comfortable and safe as possible.
Associated treatments
Phenol peeling, which does not restore volume and does not fight against facial ptosis, is a gesture that perfectly complements a cervico-facial lift , which does not correct skin defects and imperfections.
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is an aesthetic medicine treatment that provides a real boost of radiance to the epidermis.
Particularly indicated for treating dull, dry, crepey skin with fine lines, this technique involves injecting hyaluronic acid, with or without vitamins and minerals, with hydrating, revitalising and antioxidant properties.
