Before the intervention

Anesthesia
Generally, neck liposuction is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. However, in some cases, a general anaesthesia is preferred. The choice of the technique will be made between you, your anesthesiologist and your surgeon.
A consultation with your anesthesiologist will take place a few days before your liposuction.
The day of the procedure
The incisions are short (about 3 to 4 millimeters) and discreet. They are hidden in the fold located under the chin. They will gradually fade over 2-3 weeks and become almost invisible after one year.
A cannula is inserted through this puncture opening to suction out the excess fat.
The amount extracted must, of course, be adapted to the quality of the overlying skin, which is one of the determining factors for the quality of the result.
The scar is generally closed with non-absorbable sutures to avoid marking the skin. A compressive cervical dressing is applied at the end of the procedure to limit post-operative edema. The duration of the procedure varies according to the amount of fat to be extracted. It lasts on average between 30 minutes and one hour.
After the procedure
Neck liposuction is a relatively painless cosmetic procedure, and discharge from the clinic can take place on the same day.
Bruising (ecchymosis) and swelling (edema) may appear and will disappear within ten to twenty days following the procedure.
You can resume normal activity 2 to 10 days after the procedure, depending on your social and professional activities. Exposure of this area to the sun or UV rays should be avoided for at least 1 month.
Results
To appreciate the final result of the neck liposuction, it is necessary to wait for the complete resorption of the edema. In patients with thin skin, a significant final result is observed at six weeks, and approximately three months in those with thick, firm skin.
This physical improvement is generally accompanied by psychological well-being. The goal of this surgery is to provide an improvement, not to achieve perfection.
