AESTHETIC CHIN SURGERY
Aesthetic chin surgery can help to correct a chin which recedes or sticks out too much. The operation should only be considered once the bones have finished growing, i.e. from the age of seventeen onwards. If the chin is too withdrawn, the operation consists of placing an implant, usually made of silicone, or of using a bone graft taken from elsewhere in the body. If the chin sticks out, we remove a piece of excess bone. Laboratory and radiographic examinations are always carried out before these operations. In both cases, the operation is performed under deep local anaesthetic, with anaesthesiological monitoring, and lasts for less than an hour.
Recovering after the operation
The stiches are absorbable which means that they will disappear all by themselves. A treatment including frequent mouthwashes will be prescribed.
Results
The results are excellent. If the incision is made intraorally (via the mouth), there is no visible scarring.
