PERMANENT DEPILATION
The flashlamp (Quantum IPL) allows permanent depilation. The treatment is based upon selective photothermolysis which means that the melanin contained in the hair follicle absorbs the energy from the light and destroys it.
It takes a number of treatments carried out over the same area at 6 to 8-week intervals to get rid of the hairs altogether because not all of the follicles are present when the depilation is carried out, some of them are still being formed.
There needs to be a prior consultation so that a test can be carried out and a decision can be taken on how best to provide the treatment, depending upon the colour and thickness of the hairs.
During your second appointment, we perform the depilation on skin which has been shaved or has had the hair removed with a depilation cream. We advise against waxing at any time during the treatment because it reduces the number of follicles which are there to be removed.
Possible side effects include:
• a tingling sensation during the treatment (an anaesthetic cream can be applied to the skin an hour beforehand),
• a red blotch on the skin with a temporary sensation of heat lasting for a few days,
• in some rare cases, a localised oedema.
Exposure to the sun is a contra-indication for the treatment. You will need to wait for a period of from six to eight weeks after tanning before starting the sessions.
Depilation with a laser or flashlamp cannot be carried out with white or very light-coloured hairs; in these cases we will use electric depilation.| Price : Half-legs |
