ABDOMINAL PLASTY OR LIPOABDOMINOPLASTY

This operation allows excess fat and skin to be removed from the stomach when liposculpture alone is not enough to produce a flat stomach. This is a minor operation which can be performed under partial anaesthetic when the deformation is only slight.

On the other hand, when the abdominal wall is slack, muscle plasty is performed in parallel. This is a more major operation and requires a general anaesthetic and a 2 to 5-day stay in the clinic, according to circumstances.

Nowadays, recent developments to the techniques used means that we can combine extensive liposuction – to encourage the mobility of the abdominal skin – with muscle plasty of the abdomen, without any major detachment of the abdominal wall, which considerably reduces the risks of this operation and thus helps to simplify the recovery process after the operation.

Recovering after the operation

The scar is horizontal and generally on the pubis. An abdominal belt, then a compression girdle, has to be worn for 4 to 6 weeks according to circumstances.

Results

Irrespective of whether the operation is a major one or not, the results are noticeable and can be seen after approximately two months. This operation radically and permanently gives you a firm, flat stomach.
