Objectives of the phenol peel
The deep phenol peel can chemically treat the signs of marked photoaging of the face , such as deep wrinkles caused by exposure to the sun and tobacco , pigment spots and moderate sagging skin .
It is the only peeling technique that modifies, by acting down to the deep dermis, the structure of the skin to rejuvenate it by 15 to 20 years .
Furthermore, the dermo-epidermal healing will take place with a certain cutaneous retraction giving a real cutaneous “tensor” effect, variable and more or less important depending on the case.
Phenol peels are only performed on fair skin, in order to limit the risk of pigmentation rebound as well as the difference in color between the treated areas and the rest of the integuments.
The phenol peel gives exceptional results after just one session. However, the heaviness of its consequences reserves it for highly motivated patients.
Who is the phenol peel for?
Candidates for phenol peeling are generally women or men whose skin has undergone significant skin aging for many years linked to several factors such as prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV lamps, the smoking , the stress , the bad hydration , the lack of sleep or simply the consequences of the passage of time.
Patients who also have deep acne scars are good candidates for this deep peeling. All areas of the face can be treated, including the contour of the mouth, the eyelids, the forehead and the entire face.
It is preferable to treat the entire face to obtain a harmonious result. But in the case of a treatment on isolated areas such as the eyelids or around the mouth, your surgeon will suggest that you treat the rest of the face with a more superficial peel.
Phenol peeling is a surgical procedure that can lead to risks and complications. A first consultation with your surgeon is essential to know if this intervention is adapted to your particular situation.
Before and after pictures
Procedure of the phenol peeling
Phenol peeling will positively transform your skin and give you a younger face that is at least 10 years old . The results are definitive.
Follow your surgeon’s recommendations to optimize the healing process and the quality of the result.
Before the intervention
The first consultation is essential to understand your request and your motivations. It is also an opportunity for your surgeon to carefully analyze your skin to ensure that the procedure will beautify your face and bring real rejuvenation.
Then your surgeon will explain to you in detail all the steps of this protocol, pre and post peeling, which must be rigorously followed in order not to induce complications and lead to the expected result.
The preoperative protocol consists of preparing the skin before the intervention with the use of specific creams (exfoliating and depigmenting cream) to be applied at home for one month before the peeling.
This preparation phase makes it possible to limit the risks associated with the consequences of the phenol peeling , such as the appearance of spots after the intervention.
A preoperative check-up will be carried out in accordance with the prescriptions.
The phenol peel is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation to maximize your comfort.
A consultation with the anesthesiologist will take place a few days before your operation.
The day of the procedure
After make-up removal, cleaning and disinfection of the skin and installation of sterile drapes, the product is applied zone by zone and according to a personalized protocol that adapts to your skin and its imperfections.
The choice of the concentration of the product is dictated very simply by the degree of degradation of the dermis and the epidermis .
The product is therefore applied slowly to the face , the act lasts in total between 1 and 2 hours.
At the end of the procedure, an occlusive mask (transparent dressing type) is placed on your face and should be kept for 24 hours. During this time, your facial movements will be reduced.
After the procedure
A warm feeling will last about 2 hours and then fade . Immediately after the treatment, the dermis is exposed, resulting in redness, edema and oozing.
The next day, your surgeon will remove the occlusive mask and will apply a regenerating powder which will allow your skin to restructure and regenerate in depth for a week.
Indeed, following the phenol peeling, all the skin’s natural stimulation and repair mechanisms will be activated and all of the collagen and elastin fibers present at the base of the dermis will regenerate. A social eviction must be maintained for 8 to 10 days.
Following these 10 days, the skin is pink and this aspect fades in the following weeks. The results are already visible and are spectacular (rejuvenation of 10 to 15 years).
From the tenth day , treatments based on emollient creams for sensitive skin, suitable make-up and sun protection are recommended to camouflage the red or pink appearance of the treated skin for 2 to 6 months.
It is this restoration of the cutaneous surface which will take place with a smoother appearance, erasing all the original imperfections.
The final results are obtained between three to six months , but a marked improvement in the condition of the skin is visible as soon as the mask is removed and the redness can be concealed by appropriate make-up.
The new skin regains all the characteristics of young skin : elasticity, tone, hydration, radiance, fine skin texture, pigment uniformity.
The main advantage of the phenol peel is that it gives very natural results, since it does not modify the volumes of the face or its expressions .
The treatment will last over time provided you protect your skin well from UV rays, ensure a healthy lifestyle and maintain the results thanks to other aesthetic medicine treatments (injections of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid , mesotherapy, medium peels, etc.).
The goal of this surgery is to bring an improvement and not to achieve perfection. If your wishes are realistic, the result should give you great satisfaction.

Phenol peeling, which does not restore volume and does not fight against facial ptosis, is a gesture that perfectly complements a cervico-facial lift , which does not correct skin defects and imperfections.
Mesotherapy is an aesthetic medicine treatment that provides a real boost to the epidermis.
Particularly indicated for treating dull, dry, wrinkled skin with light wrinkles, this technique consists of injecting hyaluronic acid, whether or not associated with vitamins and minerals with moisturizing, revitalizing and antioxidant properties.
