When the Pain Becomes Too Intense
Stabbing pain, insomnia, swollen gums… When the pulp of a tooth (the nerve) is infected, you need to act fast to relieve the pain and preserve what can be saved. This is where root treatmentalso known as root canalization.
At our practice in Montreux, this treatment is performed with precision and gentleness, to bring you rapid… and lasting relief.
Why do I need a root canal?
Root canal treatment is necessary when decay has reached the nerve, or an infection has set in inside the tooth. Common situations include
- Intense or pulsating dental pain
- Tooth sensitive to heat or cold
- Visible abscess or feeling of pressure
- Untreated deep caries
- Dental fracture exposing the nerve
The goal is simple: eliminate the infection, clean the root canals and seal the toothto prevent recurrence.
Precise care under the microscope
A root canal is a technical, meticulous treatment that requires rigor and experience.
That’s why Dr. Franck Floch, a dentist experienced in conservative care and endodontic treatment, handles this procedure with a modern, safe approach.
Care steps :
- Local anesthesia for pain-free treatment
- Access to the pulp chamber of the tooth
- Canal cleaning and disinfection
Obturation with biocompatible material - Application of a dressing or reconstitution
Depending on the condition of the tooth, a crown may be recommended to reinforce its structure after treatment.
Is root canal treatment painful?
No. Thanks to current techniques, root canal treatment is now painless in the vast majority of cases. The local anaesthetic is highly effective, and the treatment is often experienced as a real relief.
After treatment, sensitivity may persist for a few days, but is easily managed with mild analgesics.
Treat rather than extract
Just a few years ago, infected teeth were often pulled. Today, we prefer to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible.
A properly performed root canal can save a tooth for many years to come. It’s a reliable, long-lasting treatment that saves you the need for an implant or bridge.
Root treatment rates
The fee depends on the number of canals to be treated (between 1 and 4, depending on the tooth concerned).
All our treatments are based on the nationally recognized SSO tariff.
Before any intervention, a detailed estimate is presented to you for total transparency.
