Liposuction or Lipostructure can be used in different areas of the body such as the chin, neck, the arms, the stomach, the hips, love handles, the buttocks, the inner thighs and the knees, the calves or even the ankles, this technique can achieve excellent results in both men and women, on the sole condition that they are in good physical health.

It is essential to stop smoking prior to the procedure and for 15 days afterwards. Laboratory tests are carried out as a matter of course prior to the procedure. The duration and level of anaesthesia (local, deep or general) vary depending on the patient and the treatment areas. The fat is removed using very fine cannulas through very small incisions made in the folds of the skin and the operation does not leave any visible scarring.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in the majority of cases. The result depends on the elasticity of the skin and can be seen after approximately 2 months.

Oedema and bruising may appear in the areas operated on. They will die down gradually within 6 weeks. The final result can be seen after 3 months. A compression bandage is applied and should be worn night and day for 4–6 weeks as the case may be.

Complications are rare and include blemishes, asymmetry and phlebitis.
